The whitepaper looks at three key trends growing into the workplace and focuses on cost-efficient print and document management. The report concluded that ‘document-related challenges are wasting employees’ time and contributing to a 20% loss of productivity each year, the equivalent to over two working months’.
Key Trends:
1. In recent years there has been a surge in the growth of both information access capability and delivery – the IDC predicts that the volume of data businesses receive will have increased six-fold over the past five years to 2015 and is set to continue at a similar rate. The challenge for businesses is to make sense of the information in a cost-effective and time-efficient way.
Tetsuya Kuri, VP of Marketing EMEA OKI Europe said, “in the cloud era, the advanced level of functionality the new generation of smart MFPs brings to the market can play a key role in helping businesses meet the changing demands of the evolving workplace.”
2. Balancing the need for operation cost reduction while increasing productivity – more companies are paying closer attention to their print-related operating costs and looking for ways to streamline their activities.
3. Impact on the growing mobile workforce – there is now a critical need for ‘anytime and anywhere’ access to secure and accurate information. From a previous IDC whitepaper estimating that ‘by 2018, 75% of employees will be working from mobile devices’.
The IDC concludes that in order to meet these requirements, smart MFPs must be able to print seamlessly from all types of mobile devices and offer secure printing with controlled access to protect a company’s intellectual property.
In response OKI’s portfolio of smart MFPs aim to improve the way documents are handled, managed and processed through an organisation to help increase efficiency. They also use advanced software and technology to support security from mobile devices.
